Let's get started with the material and tools.
- Light/Worsted yarn with the following colors: yellow, orange and red
- 6mm safety eyes
- Polyester stuffing
- 3.5mm (Jap 6/0) crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch markers (optional)
- Scissors
Body
Ch 5.
Round 1: (yellow) 5sc in MR [5]
Round 2: inc around [10]
Round 3: (sc 1, inc) around [15]
Round 4: (inc, sc 2) around [20]
Round 5: inc, sc 20 [21]
Round 6: (sc 6, inc) around [24]
Round 7: sc around [24]
Round 8: (inc, sc 7) around [27]
Round 9: sc around [27] – mark the 14th st for the position of the beak
*The eyes are placed 2 sts away from the beak. If you use safety eyes, you can insert them before the decreases rounds.
Round 10: (sc 4, inc, sc 4) around [30]
Round 11 ~ 12: sc around [30]
Round 13: (sc 3, inv dec) around [24]
Round 14: (sc 2, inv dec) around [18]
Round 15: (sc 1, inv dec) around [12]
Round 16: inv dec around [6]
Fasten off. Sew to close the round and hide tail.
Wings (make 2)
Round 1: (yellow) in MR, ch 1, hdc 1, dc 3, hc 1, ch 1, sl st
Fasten off. Leave a long yarn tail for sewing.

Beak
Round 1: (orange) in MR, (sc 1, hdc 2, sc 1)*2 times [8]
Fasten off. Leave a long yarn tail for sewing.
Crown
(red) Ch 6.
Row 1: (hdc 1, dc 2, hdc 1) on 2nd ch from hook, ch 1, sl 1, (sc 1, hdc 1, dc 1, hdc 1) in the next st, ch 1, sl 1, (sc 1, hdc 1, sc 1) in the last st
Fasten off. Leave a long yarn tail for sewing.
Assembly
· Attach the beak at the marked position
· Attach the wings at R8 ~ R10 of the body, positioning it about 4 ~ 6 sts away from the beak.
· Attach the crown at around R2 ~ R3 of the body.
· With (orange) yarn, embroider the feet.
· Glue the eyes at R8 of the body, about 2 sts away from the beak. If you use safety eyes, insert the eyes before the decreases rounds of the body.
· Add a little blush below the eyes for cuter effect.
